Jeff Speakman’s journey began in Chicago, where a background as a competitive gymnast and springboard diver forged the discipline and determination that would define his remarkable career. He earned a degree in Psychology before embarking on his martial arts journey under Master Lou Angel in Goju-Ryu Karate.

Still hungry for knowledge, he moved to California to study directly under the legendary Ed Parker — becoming one of Parker’s final protégés and carrying forward the philosophy that martial arts must continue to evolve.

Ed Parker is widely regarded as the father of American Kenpo Karate. Under his direct tutelage, Jeff Speakman became one of Parker’s most dedicated final protégés — absorbing not just the techniques, but the deeper philosophy that martial arts must perpetually grow and adapt.

Jeff Speakman became internationally recognised after starring in the action classic The Perfect Weapon (1991). His combination of authentic martial arts skill and on-screen presence introduced Kenpo Karate to audiences around the world.

His film credits include Street Knight, The Expert, and Escape from Atlantis, each showcasing the explosive power and precision of Kenpo 5.0 to a global audience.

As a certified Defensive Tactics Instructor, Master Speakman’s expertise has been recognised by law enforcement and government agencies at the highest levels.
